Common Questions About Our Services

We've compiled the most frequently asked questions to help you understand how we work.

How do I know if I really need the repairs you recommend?
+

Great question – and honestly, you should always feel free to get a second opinion. Here's how we approach it:

When we recommend a repair, we'll always show you the evidence – worn parts, diagnostic reports, or photos. We explain what we found, why it matters, and what happens if you don't address it. We also differentiate between what needs immediate attention versus what can wait. Our goal isn't to sell you work you don't need – it's to give you accurate information so you can make the best decision for your vehicle and budget. If something seems unclear, ask us to explain again. We want you to feel confident in every decision.

Do you offer warranties on your repairs?
+

Absolutely. We stand behind our work with a 12-month/12,000-mile warranty on both parts and labor. If something we repaired fails due to our workmanship or the parts we installed, we'll make it right at no charge to you.

Warranty coverage varies by the type of repair and parts used. Some specialty parts may come with different manufacturer warranties, which we'll explain before installation. Keep your repair invoice – it's your warranty documentation.

How long will my repair take?
+

It depends on the work being done, but we know your time matters. Most routine services like oil changes and brake pad replacements are completed within a few hours.

For more complex repairs, we'll provide an estimated completion time when you drop off your vehicle. We aim to complete most repairs within one business day. If we run into any delays or discover additional issues, we'll call you immediately with updates and a revised timeline.

Can I wait at the shop while my car is being repaired?
+

You're absolutely welcome to wait! We have a small waiting area with chairs, WiFi, and charging stations. Feel free to relax while we work on your vehicle.

If you prefer to run errands, no problem. We'll call or text you when your vehicle is ready for pickup. For longer repairs, we can arrange a loaner vehicle based on availability.

How often should I change my oil?
+

It depends on your vehicle and the type of oil you use. Most manufacturers recommend oil changes every 5,000 to 7,500 miles for conventional oil, or every 7,500 to 10,000 miles for synthetic oil.

However, frequent short trips, extreme temperatures, or dusty conditions may require more frequent changes. Check your owner's manual for manufacturer recommendations. If you're not sure when your last oil change was, we can check your service records or inspect your oil to help determine the right schedule for you.

What does it mean when my check engine light comes on?
+

The check engine light is your vehicle's way of telling you that its computer has detected a potential issue. It could be something minor like a loose gas cap, or something more serious like a misfiring engine.

We recommend having it checked within a few days if the light is steady. If the light is flashing, that's usually a more urgent signal indicating an engine misfire – in that case, we recommend limiting driving and visiting us as soon as possible.

Bring your vehicle in for a diagnostic scan. We'll read the codes, explain what's causing the light, and provide honest recommendations for next steps.

How do I know if my brakes need service?
+

Watch and listen for these warning signs:

  • Squealing or grinding noises – This usually indicates worn brake pads. High-pitched squeals mean the pads are getting low; grinding means metal is contacting metal.
  • Vibration in the pedal or steering wheel – This often means warped rotors.
  • Vehicle pulling to one side – This can indicate a sticking caliper or uneven brake wear.
  • Soft or spongy brake pedal – This could mean air in the brake lines or low fluid.
  • Longer stopping distance – If it takes longer to stop than usual, get your brakes checked.

Noticing any of these? Don't wait. Schedule a brake inspection today.

Do I need to schedule an appointment, or do you take walk-ins?
+

While we certainly welcome walk-ins when our schedule allows, we highly recommend scheduling an appointment. This ensures we have the right parts and allocated time to address your needs efficiently.

Scheduling ahead also helps us provide more accurate estimated completion times. You can schedule by phone at (708) 343-2994, or use our online contact form to request an appointment.

What forms of payment do you accept?
+

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover), debit cards, and cash. We do not offer financing options directly, but we can discuss payment plans through third-party services if needed.

Payment is due at the time of vehicle pickup. We'll always provide a detailed invoice explaining all charges before you pay.

Can you provide a second opinion on a repair another shop recommended?
+

Absolutely. Many of our customers come to us specifically for second opinions. If another shop says you need expensive repairs, bring your vehicle to us first. We'll perform our own inspection and give you an honest assessment of what needs attention now versus what can wait.

We don't want to undersell necessary repairs or oversell work you don't need. Just honest, accurate information so you can make the best choice.
